Migrating from the BI Connector to the SQL Interface

Keep your MongoDB data accessible for analytics, BI, and AI without ETL, replication, or re-architecting your stack.

BI Connector Migration Services

We review the BI Connector views you have today, map the downstream dependencies, and deliver a clear migration plan showing exactly what it takes to move to the SQL Interface.

You walk away with a scoped, actionable document, whether you work with us or not.

6 steps off the BI Connector. We run all of them.

From your current estate to a native, tuned, future-ready reporting stack, without rewriting the things that work today. It starts with a free assessment.

Assess
A white-glove migration assessment. Our team runs the migration tooling and builds the plan.
Deploy
Delbridge deploys and configures Monalytica, multi-tenant or private cloud, ready for your team.
Recreate Views
Monalytica recreates the BI Connector's virtual MySQL tables as persistent SQL views in MongoDB.
Repoint
Existing pipelines and reports are repointed to the new views. No rewrite, same shape.
Build New
Where needed, new reports and pipelines are authored against MongoSQL in the Monalytica IDE.
Optimize
Delbridge's MongoDB-certified engineers tune the queries for performance at scale.

MongoDB BI Connector Goes End-of-Life on September 30, 2026

Since 2015 the BI Connector has been the preferred solution for those wanting to connect BI tools to MongoDB and produce reports.  On September 30, 2026, the BI Connector comes to the end of life.  The SQL Interface is the successor solution.  In many ways, it is an improvement over the BI connector.

The Virtual MySQL Tables

The BI Connector presented your MongoDB data as ready-made MySQL tables. Those go away with it.

MongoSQL on the SQL Interface

A SQL-92 compliant engine running native SQL directly on your documents, no third-party layer.

The Catch

The work the BI Connector did for you doesn't disappear. It has to be redone in MongoSQL, which means reworking the functions behind your reports and pipelines.

Do it alone, or push the easy button

You rewrite the work the BI Connector hid.
You keep what works and repoint it.
Introducing Monalytica

Monalytica is designed as a complementary solution that works with the SQL Interface in three areas:

  1. As a purpose-built IDE for writing and editing MongoSQL
  2. As a tool for writing and persisting as views in MongoDB, the views/table that the BI Connector previously persisted in MySQL
  3. A natural language-based AI interface to generate ad hoc, real-time queries to explore and extract data from MongoDB.

In short, the BI professional and Data analyst now has a tool kit to work with MongoDB and exploit the full power of MongoSQL.

Migrate, Modernize, Master

Monalytica
Purpose-built MongoSQL IDE, AI natural-language query, and authoring of persistent SQL views.
MongoDB SQL Inrterface
JDBC, ODBC, Power BI and Tableau connectors. A MongoSQL-to-MQL engine translates SQL into MongoDB aggregations.
MongoDB
Your collections, plus the Monalytica-managed SQL views, living natively on the operational data. No copies, no ETL.

Connect & Explore

Connect to your cluster
From the Monalytica IDE — Atlas, Enterprise, or on-prem — with one URI.
Browse the Schema
Walk databases, collections and sample documents from a familiar tree view.
Sample with intent
Inspect representative documents to understand shape, types, and nesting.
Ask AI to explain
Monalytica's AI summarises each collection — purpose, fields, distribution.

Tame the document model

Author MongoSQL views
FLATTEN nested fields. UNWIND arrays. Reshape the document into rows.
Persist as a logical tier
Save views inside MongoDB — managed, versioned, and reused everywhere.
Analytics-Ready by design
Each view is a stable, tabular contract for BI tools and SQL queries.
No Data Movement
Views live on the operational data — no ETL pipelines, no copies.

Enrich with Business Context

Upload reference datar
Spreadsheets, CSVs, or feeds — directly into Monalytica.
Layer hierarchies on top
Org chart, product taxonomy, customer segments — the dimensions your business reports against.
Join in the IDE
Combine MongoDB collections with reference data using familiar SQL.
Aggregate in context
Roll up by region, by manager, by product line — without copying data.

What are the benefits of migrating to the SQL Interface?

The SQL Interface is an efficient, dynamic query engine usable by anyone with SQL knowledge, with lower maintenance overhead and fewer moving parts than the BI Connector.

It removes the third-party MySQL-compatible layer and runs SQL directly against your documents.

How do we get the equivalent of the flat views the BI Connector creates today?

You now build these views using MongoSQL. Monalytica gives you a purpose-built IDE to author them, and our migration assessment can accelerate their development, recreating your existing views so reports reconnect to familiar names.

What are the benefits of using Monalytica with the SQL Interface?

Monalytica adds a purpose-built MongoSQL IDE, AI-based data exploration and profiling, and natural-language query generation, making all of your data easily available to users with BI and analytics backgrounds.

September 2026 is closer than it looks.

Get ahead of the BI Connector end-of-life now. Monalytica is ready when you are. Book your free migration assessment and we’ll review your existing BI Connector views and tell you exactly what it will take to move them to MongoSQL.
