Farmer Holding Company’s Challenges Before the Redesign
Farmer Holding Company operates a diversified portfolio of businesses spanning quarries, construction, real estate, and concrete. More than 60 companies and hundreds of cost centers sit under one roof, each with its own reporting expectations, and all of them running on a single ERP system. The data was consistent. The reporting structure was not.
One Model Carrying the Entire Organization
The whole organization lived inside a single FP&A model in Prophix, holding data for over 60 companies, hundreds of cost centers, and at least eight years of history. Everything worked, but nothing was easy.
Reporting Needs That Did Not Fit Together
A quarry does not report the way a real estate business does. Forcing very different operating models into one shared design meant compromises for everyone and constant workarounds for the reporting team.
Model and Report Design Complexity
Data connection was straightforward through a staging database, but design was the bottleneck. Building and maintaining reports inside one oversized model took disproportionate effort.
Budget Season Pressure
The team was working against a hard deadline. The next budget cycle had to run in a new environment, because running it again in the old one was not realistic.
Delbridge’s Approach
Farmer Holding Company partnered with Delbridge Solutions to move from a single monolithic model to a five-model design in FP&A Plus in Prophix, built around how the business actually reports rather than how the data happened to be loaded.
Four industry models group companies with similar reporting needs, and a fifth consolidated model delivers top-level reporting for the C-suite while also housing the companies without specialized requirements.

Delbridge connected the models directly to cloud-based source data, cutting import times and removing a recurring drag on the reporting calendar.

The redesign had to be ready in time to budget in the new environment. Delbridge and the Farmer Holding team built a workable plan at the start and tracked against it, working through the surprises that came up without moving the date. Reports went out on schedule and matched what the executive and accounting teams expected.
